The Royal Wedding

April 9th, 2005 by James

So, legally or not, the Prince of Wales has married Mrs Camilla Parker Bowles. What a tacky affair its been so far:

The senior royals (minus The Queen and Prince Phillip of course) arrived at the registry office in a dodgy old minibus.

Charles and Mrs Camilla Parker Bowles arrived and got out of their car while the band played Cliff Richard’s Congratulations. Can anyone smell cheese?

Camilla’s hat looks like she head-butted some substantial foliage on the way out. And surely wearing white isn’t quite right??

The media coverage has revealed they share similar feelings to the half-hearted attitude most of the country seems to be taking.

Highlights so far have included an interview on BBC News where one of the guests was asked to comment on the situation since “you’ve seen them both in action”.

Sky News have managed to top that though, with Kay Burley reporting from the streets of Windsor. She was interviewing the crowd, asking them who they managed to see. Unfortunately, their vantage position was so bad the standard answer was “nobody, we can’t see anything”.

Attempting to retrieve the situation, she tried a few other people: Unfortunately, they were waiting outside the registry office for the next service!

What with that and her almost being trampled by a police horse when she and her cameraman were too slow in moving out of the way, this is top quality entertainment.

More coming up, as we see all the “distinguished” celebrity guests arriving at St George’s Chapel. Strangely no sign of Janet Street Porter so far. Just lots of comedians … oh, I get it!

I never knew this Royal Wedding would be so much fun to watch! :>
