The long awaited ntl/Telewest merger has been announced.
I’m optimistic - things can’t get much worse than they were a couple of years back. Maybe now UK cable will be in a position to effectively challenge Sky.
Of course, knowing ntl, the whole cable network will probably fall over as soon as they try to stick the two together.
Off the back of the merger announcement comes the news that Flextech is off the market. Last time ntl tried to provide TV content in the form of The Studio, the channel collapsed within two years. Let’s just hope they keep on board the guys from Telewest to run that part of the business.
Overall though, this should be positive news.
